Day 1: Homeport

Day 2: Cairo                                       

Upon arrival at Cairo Airport you will be met by one of our representatives and transferred in style to our luxury hotel. There you can freshen up and relax in the hotel, before getting ready to explore the wonders of Cairo. Dinner will be served followed by an overnight stay. (D)


Day 3: Cairo 

Egypt is steeped in magic and mysticism and in the bustling capital of Cairo these stories come to life. After breakfast you will start your exploration of the city in Old Cairo visiting the Citadel and the beautiful mosque of Muhammad Ali. After lunch you will have the chance to linger in the Egyptian Museum, indulging in the world’s best collection of ancient artifacts. (Please note: Entering the mummy’s room at the Museum is at your own cost).   The next stop is for eager shoppers hoping to seek out a bargain at the lively Khan el Khalil open air market. Here you can find plenty of local treasures from Egyptian gold to rich spices and sweet perfumes. The perfect end to the perfect day includes dinner and relaxing back at the hotel, although for those who still have the energy you can choose to catch the sensational sound and light show at the Pyramids. Evening Option: Sound & Light Show Cairo/ Pyramids & Sphinx - The intriguing combination of a modern light and laser show combined with the ancient history of Egypt makes for an entertaining evening. Hear the Sphinx telling the story of Egypt as seen through his eyes throughout the many millenniums, as the pyramids and skies are lit up with multi coloured lights. (Own Expense. To be booked with your tour guide).

Day 4: Cairo 

After crossing the long and winding Nile River to the ancient necropolis Saqqara, you can stand in awe at the foot of the oldest stone structure in the world – the Step Pyramid. The secrets of this forgotten world are still buried under the desert sands and exciting new discoveries are being excavated every day. After lunch it’s time to witness one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Great Pyramid located in the Giza district. Be sure to stop at the foot of the Sphinx and unravel the riddle of Man. Day 5: Cairo – El Alamein - Alexandria

After breakfast and check out you will move from Cairo onto Alexandria, but first you will stop at El Alamein, a historic World War Two battleground located on the sparkling blue Mediterranean Sea. You can visit the War Museum and see fascinating collections from ‘The Civil War’, followed by a special visit to the Australian Cemetery before moving onwards towards the beautiful city of Alexandria. Upon arrival in Alexandria you can make yourself at home in our next luxury hotel. (B, D)


Day 6: Alexandria                                                                                       

Alexandria, also known as the Jewel of the Mediterranean, is distinguished by its strategic location, moderate climate and its beautiful fine sandy beaches.  After breakfast we have a full day of touring this beautiful city. You will begin your day visiting Pompey’s Pillar which was constructed in honour of the Emperor Diocletian and is the biggest memorial column in Egypt. The Catacombs is next which was discovered in the 1900’s by pure chance when a donkey drawn cart fell into a pit. Continue onto the grand and impressive Roman-Graeco Theatre. Over 30 years of excavation have led to the discovery of many Roman remains including this well-preserved theatre with marble seats for up to 800 spectators, galleries and

sections of mosaic-flooring. Finish sightseeing in Alexandria with a tour of the newly completed Great Library. This library was built after the destruction of the old library by a fire which ravaged Alexandria. (B.D)


Day 7: Alexandria – Luxor via Cairo   

After breakfast and checkout you will board the coach to Cairo. Once back you will transfer to Cairo Airport followed by a short flight to Luxor. Upon arrival in Luxor you will be escorted to the next luxury hotel for dinner and an overnight stay. (B, D)


Day 8: Luxor / Nile Cruise  

After breakfast and checkout you will have the chance to discover Luxor, the world’s largest open air museum. Your first trip takes you across the Nile to the Necropolis of Thebes. Next is a journey into the Valley of the Kings to see the world famous tomb of Tutankhamen, followed by a visit to the remarkable Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. The tour will finish at the foot of the Colossi of Memnon, the breathtaking stone statues that once guarded the gates of Thebes. After the tour you will then transfer onto the luxury Nile Cruiser, home for the next four days. Lunch will be served and then the afternoon will be yours to explore the surroundings. Dinner will be served on the cruiser. (B, L, D)


Evening option: Sound & Light Show Karnak - The Sound and Light Show at Karnak starts with a historical introduction covering the birth of the great city of Thebes and erection of the Karnak Temple. The show narrates the glorious achievements of some great Pharaohs as spectators listen to a magnificent and poetic description of the artistic treasures and great legacy which the Karnak temple encloses. (Own expense)


Day 9: Luxor – Edfu via Esna / Nile Cruise

A chance to discover Egypt’s largest temple- The Temple Complex of Karnak and the Luxor Temple known as the Southern Shrine. Then enjoy the rest of the day lazing on the Nile as you sail to Edfu. (B, L, D) For those seeking to create an extra special memory you can opt for an early morning hot air balloon ride and enjoy panoramic bird eye views over Luxor at your own expense.


Early Morning Optional: Hot Air Balloon Luxor - Glide majestically over the temples and burial grounds on the Pharaohs with tranquillity and peace. See this spectacular landscape from the unique viewpoint which only hot air ballooning can provide. (Own Expense)


Day 10: Edfu – Kom Ombo – Aswan/ Nile Cruise

After breakfast the cruiser will make a stop at the Edfu Temple where you can stand in awe at Egypt’s best preserved Temple – the Temple of Horus with its ancient hieroglyphs and original ceilings. The cruise continues down the Nile towards Kom Ombo and the unusual double Temple. Refresh with afternoon tea back on deck and rest up for an evening of fun ahead. The evening entertainment will include a dinner costume dress up and a Galabia party. (B, L, D)


Day 11: Aswan / Nile Cruise

The dazzling Nile journey continues into Aswan, here the wide river curls and flows around beautiful botanical islands and intriguing rock formations. You will have the chance to relax on deck whilst watching the golden desert pass by. After lunch you can delight in a ride across the Nile in a Felucca, a traditional wooden sailing boat followed by afternoon tea back on deck. There’s an early morning option of taking a trip over Abu Simbel by flight at your own expense. (B, L, D)


Morning Option: Abu Simbel - Abu Simbel is a temple built by Ramses II in ancient Nubia, where he wished to demonstrate his power and his divine nature. One of the most magnificent monuments in the world, its removal and reconstruction was an historic event in itself. Early departure. Flight & Tour Guide and transfer are Included. (Own expense)


Day 12:  Aswan

After breakfast we disembark our cruiser, your first stop of the day will be the Aswan High Dam, the engineering miracle that controls Egypt’s lifeline. Next you will move on to the Philae Temple dedicated to Isis.

Afternoon we check into our Legendary Residence, the Old Cataract Hotel is named for its location at the spot where the river meets a granite barrier to create the first cataract of the Nile. Follow in the footsteps of the prestigious hotel guests hosted since 1899, from Sir Winston Churchill to Aga Khan, from Dame Agatha Christies to King Farouk… Experience the inspiring blend of Victorian grandeur, Egyptian atmosphere, and French art de reservoir. Day 13:  Aswan - Cairo

This afternoon you will be transferred to Aswan Airport and board your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival you will check in to the last of your luxury hotels and have time to freshen up before a farewell dinner on the Nile Dinner Cruise. (B, D)


Day 14: Cairo - Homeport

It’s time to leave the land of ancient mythology and mysticism behind, after breakfast and check out you will be transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight home. (B)
